Fendt 1E.1.7B – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Break in wiring of cylinder bank 2 injector valves.

The engine control unit has detected an open circuit (break in the wiring) in the circuit controlling the fuel injectors for cylinder bank 2. The ECU will initiate a "Cylinder switch-off" (injection failure) to protect the engine, resulting in a loss of power, misfiring, and rough running.

   Identify Connector A on the EDC 7 ECU, designated as the injector connector.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness from Connector A to the cylinder bank 2 fuel injectors for chafing, heat damage, or rodent damage.

   Measure the resistance of the injector and wiring harness (healthy is approx. 0.5 ohms; infinite resistance confirms a break or failed solenoid).

   Perform a continuity test on the specific wires from ECU Connector A to the bank 2 injector plugs to isolate the break.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the ECU

   Locate the A051 EDC 7 engine control unit and carefully disconnect Connector A (Injector connector).

   Access the Injectors

   Remove any necessary engine covers or valve covers (depending on the specific Deutz engine model) to access the fuel injectors for cylinder bank 2.

   Repair or Replace

   If a localized break is found in the wiring, splice and repair the wire using weather-sealed butt connectors or solder and heat shrink. If the harness is heavily degraded or burnt, remove the entire injector wiring harness from the ECU to the injectors and install a replacement harness.

   Verify Injector Health

   While the harness is disconnected, test the resistance across the injector pins directly to ensure the injector solenoid itself hasn't failed open.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the injector harness to the injectors and plug Connector A back into the EDC 7 ECU. Reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes

   The fault code must be cleared from the A051 ECU memory. Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software and delete the error (FC:009C).
