Fendt 1E.1.7C – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): Short circuit or break in wiring to injector valve 1

Issue description

An electrical fault (either an open circuit/cable break or a short circuit) in the circuit controlling the fuel injector for cylinder 1, resulting in an injection failure (cylinder shut-off or misfire).

Check the cause

  1. Use the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software to read specific sub-codes (typically FC 00A0 or 009F).

  2. Visually inspect the wiring harness from the A051 (EDC 7) control unit to Injector Valve 1 (Y095) for chafed wires, melted insulation, or a disconnected plug.

  3. Disconnect the electrical connector at Injector 1 and measure the resistance across the injector pins using a multimeter (a healthy injector should read approximately 0.5 ohms).

  4. Test the harness for continuity from the injector plug back to the EDC 7 pins, ensuring there is no short to ground or short to battery voltage.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Disconnect the tractor's battery before performing electrical repairs or unplugging the EDC 7 module.

  2. Repair Wiring

    If the diagnostic checks reveal a broken wire or short in the harness between the A051 ECU and the Y095 injector, repair the damaged section of the harness or replace the injector sub-harness.

  3. Replace Injector

    If the wiring tests good but the injector fails the resistance test (internal short or open circuit): Clean the area around the injector thoroughly to prevent debris from entering the cylinder or fuel system. Remove the high-pressure fuel lines and the injector hold-down clamp. Remove the faulty injector. Install the new injector using new O-rings and sealing washers. Torque the injector hold-down according to the specific Deutz engine spec (e.g., 23 Nm for the Deutz TCD 2013 L6 4V).

  4. Clear Faults

    Reconnect the battery. Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and delete the error code from the A051 ECU memory. Run the engine to verify the misfire is resolved.
