Fendt 1E.1.7E – A051 - ECU, Engine Control Unit (EDC 7): A051 - Injector 3: Short circuit or cable break to injector 3
Issue description
This indicates an electrical fault (either an open circuit or a short) in the circuit for the number 3 cylinder fuel injector (Component designation: Y097). The direct consequence of this condition is an injection failure (misfire) on cylinder 3, which will result in reduced engine performance and rough running.

Check the cause
Check ECU Pin Resistance: Disconnect the harness at separation point X1672 on the A051 Engine ECU. Measure the resistance between Pin 4 (Injector 1, 2, 3 High) and Pin 6 (Injector 3 Low). The specified target value is approximately 0.5 ohms.
Check Cylinder Head Separation Point: Check the wiring at separation point X1662, which is the connection point for the injectors (Y095, Y096, Y097, Y098) located inside the cylinder head.
Inspect for Shorts: Test the wiring between the A051 ECU and the Y097 injector for continuity to ground or a short to voltage.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the engine and wait at least 30 seconds before starting any work on the fuel system to allow the high-pressure accumulator (rail) to depressurize. Ensure strict cleanliness around the fuel system.
Access the Injector
Open the bonnet. The injectors on these engines are located under the valve cover. Unscrew and remove the engine valve cover to access Injector 3 (Y097) and the internal wiring harness (X1662 separation point).
Inspect and Repair
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to Injector 3 for chafing, breaks, or heat damage.
Replace Component
If the wiring tests perfectly but the resistance across the injector solenoid is out of specification (not ~0.5 ohms), remove and replace Injector 3 (Y097).
Reassembly
Reinstall the valve cover using a new valve cover gasket. Reconnect all electrical separation points.
Clear Codes
Connect the SERDIA / FENDIAS diagnostic tool and delete the error code from the A051 ECU memory.
Parts you might need
(3)Fuel Injector (Component Y097) / Injector Valve 3
OEM part numbers vary strictly by the specific engine model (Deutz TCD 2012 / 2013 series) and tractor chassis number.
Valve Cover Gasket
Required for reassembly after accessing the injectors.
Internal Injector Wiring Harness
If the diagnostic checks reveal a cable break under the valve cover rather than a failed injector solenoid.
