1E.1.B4

Fendt 1E.1.B4 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): CAN message missing - No Tempomat cruise control CAN message.

Issue description

This indicates a communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Specifically, the engine control unit is failing to receive the required CAN message related to the 'Tempomat' (cruise control) system. As a direct consequence, the cruise control function is disabled.

Check the cause

  1. Refer to the Fendt 'EDC control' circuit diagram (Sheet 21) which governs the A051 ECU and Tempomat CAN messaging.

  2. Inspect the physical CAN bus wiring and connections between the A051 Engine Control Unit and the A002 Enhanced Control Unit for open circuits, corrosion, or pin damage.

  3. Ensure the A051 module is receiving proper voltage and that the CAN High and CAN Low lines are intact.

Repair steps

  1. Repair Wiring

If a break or short is found in the CAN bus wiring between the A051 ECU and the tractor's main network (per Sheet 21), repair the harness or connector.

  2. Clear the Fault

Once the physical communication issue is resolved, the fault must be cleared from the engine control unit's memory. Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software.

  3. Delete Error

Execute the command to delete the error (Internal SERDIA reference: FC:0070).

  4. Test Operation

Restart the tractor and test the Tempomat (cruise control) to verify the CAN message is now being successfully transmitted and received.

  5. Replace Engine Control Unit

If the A051 ECU itself is found to be internally faulty and requires replacement, the new unit will require EOL (End of Line) programming via SERDIA to match the tractor's chassis number and immobilizer.
