Fendt 1E.1.B7 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): No speedometer signal CAN message

The engine control unit is failing to receive the vehicle speed (speedometer) data message over the CAN bus network. This usually points to a communication breakdown between the engine ECU and the module broadcasting the speed signal (such as the enhanced control unit or transmission controller).

   Consult the EDC control circuit diagram (Sheet 21 or Sheet 36) and inspect the wiring harness connecting the A051 Engine Control Unit to the CAN bus network.

   Check for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power on the CAN High and CAN Low lines at the A051 connector.

   Look for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture ingress at the A051 ECU harness connector.

   Ensure there are no active faults in the A002 (Enhanced Control Unit) or transmission sensors that would prevent the speedometer signal from being generated in the first place.

   Resolve Physical Faults

   If any broken wires, corroded pins, or CAN bus shorts were found during the diagnostic checks, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector terminals.

   Connect Diagnostic Tool

   Connect the FENDIAS or Deutz SERDIA diagnostic interface to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Clear the Fault

   Use the SERDIA software to clear the fault (delete error FC:0076) from the EDC 7 memory.

   Test Drive

   Cycle the key, start the tractor, and perform a test drive to verify the speedometer is functioning on the instrument cluster and that the 1E.1.B7 code does not return as an active fault.

   ECU Replacement (Worst Case)

   If the wiring is perfectly intact, the CAN network is healthy, and the fault immediately returns and limits engine function, the A051 EDC 7 unit itself may have a failed internal CAN transceiver and will require replacement and EOL (End of Line) programming.
