Fendt 1E.1.B8 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7) CAN-message missing
Issue description
Communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Specifically, the rest of the tractor's network (such as the A050 basic control unit or A002 enhanced control unit) has lost communication with the engine control module.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the A051 EDC7 module (specifically separation points X1466, X1671, and X1672) for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.
Verify that the A051 module is receiving proper operating voltage and has a clean ground connection.
With the tractor powered off and the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins. A healthy CAN bus should read approximately 60 ohms. 120 ohms indicates a broken termination resistor or wiring segment; 0 ohms indicates the CAN lines are shorted together.
Using a multimeter or oscilloscope with the key ON, check the CAN High and CAN Low voltages to ensure they are actively transmitting and not shorted to ground or power.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Faults
If the diagnostic checks reveal a short, open circuit, or high resistance in the CAN bus wiring, repair the damaged section of the harness or replace the faulty connector terminals.
Module Replacement
If the wiring, power, and ground to the A051 module are all verified as good, the EDC 7 module itself has likely suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.
Clear Faults
Once the physical repair is complete, connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software to the tractor.
Reprogramming
If the A051 module was replaced, you must perform EOL (End of Line) programming to flash the correct engine performance curves and immobilizer data to the new unit.
Delete Error
Use SERDIA to clear fault code 1E.1.B8 (FC:0078) from the system memory.
Parts you might need
(1)Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC 7 Module (Component A051)
The exact AGCO/Fendt part number for the A051 module is highly specific to the exact tractor model, engine serial number, and emission tier (e.g., Deutz vs. MAN engines). You will need to reference the AGCO Parts Catalog with the machine's specific VIN/Serial Number to order the correct blank module for EOL programming.
