Fendt 1E.1.BB – A051 - ECU, Engine Control Unit (EDC 7): A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7) CAN-message missing.
Issue description
The tractor's CAN bus network has lost communication with the engine control unit. The system is not receiving the expected CAN messages from the engine controller, which can lead to restricted operation, emergency running modes, or the Tractor Management System (TMS) switching off.

Check the cause
Inspect the CAN bus wiring between the A051 (Engine ECU) and the A002 (Enhanced Control ECU) for breaks, chafing, or short circuits
Check the main connector at the A051 (EDC 7) module for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture ingress
Verify that the A051 module is receiving proper operating voltage and has a solid ground connection
Connect the Deutz diagnostic program (SERDIA) via the AGCO CANUSB diagnostic adapter to see if the engine ECU can be communicated with directly
Repair steps
Isolate the Fault
Use a multimeter to test the CAN-High and CAN-Low lines between the tractor's main harness and the A051 EDC 7 module.
Repair Wiring
If an open circuit or short is found in the CAN lines, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector pins.
Replace the ECU
If the wiring, power, and grounds are all intact but the module still fails to broadcast CAN messages, the A051 EDC 7 module has internally failed and must be replaced.
EOL Programming
If a new A051 EDC 7 module is installed, use the SERDIA software to flash the correct engine parameters and data record for the specific tractor model.
Clear Faults
Once the repair is complete, use the SERDIA diagnostic tool or FENDIAS to clear the fault code (FC:007B) from the system memory.
Parts you might need
(2)Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC 7
Universally referred to as the A051 ECU. Exact part number varies heavily depending on the specific engine and tractor model; requires chassis number.
