Fendt 1E.1.BC – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): CAN-message missing

Communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Specifically, the engine control unit is failing to receive expected data packets from other primary modules on the network, such as the A002 (Enhanced Control ECU) or A050 (Basic Control ECU).

   Connect the Fendt SERDIA (Service Diagnostics) software. Read out all sensors connected to the A051 ECU and check for accompanying CAN bus faults (e.g., faults logged against the A002 or A050 modules) which might indicate a broader network drop-out.

   Consult the 'EDC engine control' circuit diagram (often Sheet 21 or Sheet 36, depending on the model). Inspect the CAN bus lines between the A051 ECU and the rest of the tractor.

   Inspect the main harness separation points/connectors at the A051 ECU (specifically connectors X1466, X1671, and X1672) for pushed pins, moisture intrusion, or corrosion.

   Verify that the A051 ECU is receiving proper voltage and has a solid ground, as voltage drops can cause CAN transceivers to drop offline.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery before working on the EDC7 module or wiring harness to prevent electrical spikes.

   Repair Wiring

   If diagnostic checks reveal high resistance, shorts, or broken wires in the CAN High or CAN Low lines, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector pins at the A051 module.

   ECU Reprogramming

   If the wiring is perfectly intact, the A051 ECU may have suffered a software glitch. Perform EOL (End of Line) reprogramming of the data record if necessary.

   Module Replacement

   If the ECU is internally damaged (e.g., burnt CAN transceiver) and cannot be flashed, replace the A051 EDC 7 unit.

   Clear Faults

   Reconnect the battery. Connect the SERDIA diagnostic tool and execute the 'delete error' command to clear FC:007C / 1E.1.BC. Cycle the key and perform a functional test to ensure the CAN message missing error does not return.
