Fendt 1E.1.BD – A051 - Engine Control Unit (EDC 7): CAN-message missing
Issue description
This indicates a communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN bus). The engine control unit is either failing to broadcast expected messages to the rest of the tractor's network or is not receiving required messages from other modules (such as the A002 enhanced control module or A050 basic control unit).

Check the cause
Connect a laptop with SERDIA diagnostic software to the tractor, as this code cannot be cleared via the cab terminal.
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the A051 (EDC 7) to the A002 (Enhanced Control) and A050 (Basic Control) units for chafed wires, corrosion, or pushed-back pins (refer to circuit diagram Sheet 21 or 28).
Test the CAN High and CAN Low lines for continuity and check terminating resistor values (typically ~60 ohms across the network with the battery disconnected).
Verify that the EDC 7 module is receiving proper operating voltage and ground.
Repair steps
Isolate the Fault
If the CAN bus wiring tests out of specification, locate and repair the break or short in the harness.
Check ECU Integrity
If the wiring is intact and the CAN network is healthy, the fault is likely internal to the A051 (EDC 7) module itself.
Software/Programming Check
Sometimes CAN communication drops due to corrupted software. Attempt an EOL (End of Line) programming flash using FENDIAS/SERDIA to rewrite the data record to the ECU.
Module Replacement/Repair
If the module is unresponsive or the hardware has failed, remove the Bosch EDC 7 unit. It must either be sent to a specialized agricultural electronics repair facility (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) or replaced.
Clear Codes
After repairing the wiring or replacing/reprogramming the ECU, use the SERDIA software to clear fault code 1E.1.BD (FC:007D) from the engine control unit's memory.
