Check the cause
Consult the EDC engine control circuit diagram (Sheet 21 or Sheet 35 depending on the model) for wiring references
Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness connecting the A051 (Engine Control Unit) to the A002 (Enhanced Control ECU) and A050 (Basic Control Unit) for continuity, corrosion, or pin damage
Connect the tractor to the SERDIA service diagnostics program and check if the fault (FC:0083) can be cleared
Ensure the A051 module is receiving proper voltage and has a solid ground, as power interruptions can cause CAN timeouts
Repair steps
Clear the Fault
Use the SERDIA diagnostic software to attempt to delete the error (FC:0083). If the code returns immediately, proceed to hardware troubleshooting.
Inspect the Harness
Locate the A051 ECU (on the 300 Vario, for example, it is located at the right entrance step behind the battery case; location varies slightly by series). Disconnect the X1466 separation point/connector.
Test CAN Lines
Use a multimeter to test the CAN High and CAN Low lines between the A051 ECU and the tractor's main bus for breaks or short circuits. Repair any damaged wiring.
Module Replacement/Repair
If the wiring is intact and the CAN timeout persists, the Bosch EDC7 unit itself has likely suffered an internal hardware or microcontroller failure.
EOL Programming
If the A051 ECU is replaced or repaired, it will require EOL (End of Line) programming using the SERDIA tool to flash the correct engine data record, parameters, and configuration for the specific tractor.
