Fendt 1E.1.C2 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): CAN bus A, break in wiring or short circuit
Issue description
Communication error on the tractor's Controller Area Network. Specifically, it means: "CAN bus A, break in wiring or short circuit" (also documented as a cable break). While this fault is active, the system typically defaults to a restricted operating mode, though driving with the foot throttle/throttle pedal remains possible.

Check the cause
Physically inspect the wiring harness for CAN bus A leading to the A051 Engine Control Unit for chafed wires, pinched cables, or disconnected plugs.
Using a multimeter and the OEM 'EDC control' circuit diagram (Sheet 21 or Sheet 33), test the CAN bus A lines for continuity to rule out a cable break, and check for short circuits to ground or power.
Inspect the main separation points and connectors on the A051 ECU (e.g., X1466, X1671, X1672) for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.
Repair steps
Isolate the battery and repair any broken or shorted wires found on the CAN bus A circuit during the diagnostic phase.
Isolate the battery and repair any broken or shorted wires found on the CAN bus A circuit during the diagnostic phase.
If a connector pin is corroded or damaged, depin and replace the affected terminal, ensuring a weather-tight seal is re-established.
