1E.1.C3

Fendt 1E.1.C3 – A051 - ECU, engine control unit (EDC 7): CAN bus B, cable break or short circuit.

Issue description

The tractor will likely enter a restricted operating mode, but driving with the foot throttle/throttle pedal is still possible.

Check the cause

  1. Check the CAN bus B wiring harness connected to the A051 Engine Control Unit (EDC 7) for any visible cable breaks, chafing, or short circuits.

  2. Consult the specific 'EDC engine control' circuit diagram for your model (often listed as Sheet 21 or Sheet 36 in Fendt manuals) to trace the CAN bus B lines.

  3. Connect the Fendt SERDIA diagnostic software (or equivalent AGCO diagnostic tool) to read the active states (look for internal failure code FC:00C1).

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

  2. Access the ECU

Locate the A051 Engine Control Unit (EDC 7).

  3. Repair Wiring

If a break or short is found in the CAN bus B wiring during the diagnostic phase, repair the damaged section of the harness or replace the specific cable segment.

  4. Check ECU Pins

Inspect the connector pins on the EDC 7 unit and the wiring harness plug for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture intrusion. Clean or repair as necessary.

  5. Clear Fault Codes

Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition on. Use the SERDIA diagnostic software to delete the error code from the A051 memory. (Note: Canceling the fault code on the tractor's instrument cluster display only hides it; it must be cleared from the ECU memory using the software).

  6. Test Drive

Start the engine and verify that full throttle control is restored and the tractor no longer defaults to the restricted foot-throttle-only mode.
