1E.1.D2

Fendt 1E.1.D2 – Engine Control Unit (A051 - EDC 7): EEPROM memory access

Issue description

The engine control unit was unable to properly read from or write to its internal EEPROM memory. A highly common cause for this specific fault is that the battery disconnect switch (S092) was activated too early after the tractor was shut down, interrupting the ECU's data saving process.

Check the cause

  1. Interview the operator regarding shutdown procedures to verify if the battery disconnect switch is being used immediately after turning off the ignition key

  2. Connect the Fendt SERDIA (Service Diagnostics) program to the tractor

  3. Read the fault memory to confirm the presence of 1E.1.D2 (internal SERDIA fault code FC:008E)

Repair steps

  1. Delete error memory

Using the SERDIA diagnostic tool, attempt to delete the error from the engine control unit's memory.

  2. Instruct operator on shutdown procedures

Instruct the operator on proper shutdown procedures: they must wait at least 45 seconds after turning off the ignition before activating the battery disconnect switch (S092) to allow the EDC 7 to finish writing to the EEPROM.

  3. Load new operating software

If the error cannot be deleted or immediately returns upon the next startup, the software or EEPROM is corrupted. Use SERDIA to load new operating software (EOL programming) to the EDC 7 control unit.

  4. Repair or replace control unit

If loading new software fails or the EEPROM is permanently damaged, the EDC 7 control unit must be removed and sent out for internal hardware repair or replaced entirely.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Bosch EDC 7 Engine Control Unit

Manufactured by Bosch, commonly the Bosch EDC7UC31. Exact OEM part numbers vary strictly by specific engine and chassis configuration.

  • AGCO / Fendt Battery Disconnect Switch

    G650902020090

Replace if the switch itself is faulty and causing intermittent power drops.

  • AGCO / Fendt Battery Disconnect Switch

    AG520910

Replace if the switch itself is faulty and causing intermittent power drops.
