Fendt 2.1.E0 – A002 - ECU, Enhanced Control: CAN communication fault between ECU enhanced control (A002) and drive switch / joystick (A034)

The system has detected a loss of CAN bus data transfer between the main enhanced control module and the primary driving joystick. When this occurs, the tractor defaults to an emergency operation mode where the joystick functions are disabled, and the tractor can only be driven using the foot throttle.

   Check the Power Supply: The power supply for the joystick CAN bus is routed through circuit board A013. Check fuse F047, which protects the joystick CAN circuit.

   Inspect the CAN Bus Wiring: Test the CAN bus wiring harness for continuity, shorts to ground, or breaks between the A002 Enhanced Control ECU and the A034 Joystick.

   Check Connectors: Inspect the multi-pin connectors at both the joystick base and the A002 ECU for corrosion, backed-out pins, or moisture ingress.

   FENDIAS Diagnostics: Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to verify if the A034 joystick is visible on the network. Check the 'IDEAL' target value for transmission ratio from the joystick to see if any data is being transmitted.

   Enter Emergency Mode

   If the tractor is stranded, use the foot throttle to move the tractor to a safe workshop location (emergency operation mode).

   Resolve Power/Wiring Issues

   If fuse F047 is blown, replace it and test for a short circuit. Repair any damaged CAN wiring between A002 and A034.

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring and fuses are intact, the fault lies internally within either the A034 Joystick or the A002 ECU. The joystick is the most common failure point due to physical wear and tear.

   EOL Programming

   If either the A034 Joystick or the A002 Enhanced Control ECU is replaced, you must perform new EOL (End of Line) programming using the FENDIAS dealer software to initialize the new component on the CAN bus.
