2.1.EE

Fendt 2.1.EE – LBS ECU: ISO/LBS implement — Fault in LBS ECU

Issue description

The tractor's communication network has lost contact with the implement's job computer, or the module itself has failed. As a direct consequence, the mounted implement can no longer be operated via the tractor's joystick controls or the terminal.

Check the cause

  1. Check the CAN bus system for implement control

  2. Inspect the CAN communication E-Box and the CAN joystick for defects

  3. Inspect physical connections at the ISOBUS/LBS connector socket at the rear of the tractor and the implement's plug for dirt, bent pins, or corrosion

  4. Test with the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to verify if the tractor can see the LBS ECU on the network

Repair steps

  1. Visual Inspection

Clean and inspect the ISOBUS breakaway connector between the tractor and the implement.

  2. Wiring Harness Continuity

Trace the CAN bus wiring harness from the implement control socket back to the tractor's E-Box. Look for chafed wires, pinched cables, or loose grounds. Repair any damaged wiring.

  3. Joystick Verification

Test the CAN joystick inputs. If the joystick is not sending signals to the E-Box, replace the joystick assembly.

  4. Module Repair/Replacement

If the CAN bus wiring is intact and the joystick is functional, the LBS Job Computer on the implement is likely defective. Remove the LBS ECU and either send it to a specialized electronics repair facility or replace it with a new unit.

  5. Clear Fault Codes

After the repair is complete, clear the stored fault codes from the tractor's memory. On older Vario terminals, this can be done by simultaneously pressing keys D, B, and C, or by using the FENDIAS diagnostic tool.
