Fendt 3.1.06 – A004 - Control Console: A004 - ECU, control panel

Issue description

External 8.5 V fault (8.5 Volt supply failure). The fault causes the control console to shut down specific functions to protect the system. The button panel (keypad), digital/analogue inputs, and LED actuations are switched off.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect CAN-Bus and console voltage supply fuses on the main fuse board (A013), specifically F040, F041, and Fuse 5.

  2. Check the wiring harness between the A013 fuse board and the A004 control console for pinched wires, corrosion at connectors, or shorts to ground.

  3. Perform a voltage drop test using a multimeter to verify if the 8.5V supply is reaching the A004 connector.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Console

Remove the trim paneling on the right-hand mudguard/multifunction armrest to expose the A004 control console mounting hardware.

  3. Disconnect

Carefully unplug the CAN bus and power supply connectors from the bottom of the A004 ECU.

  4. Remove & Replace

Unbolt the defective control console and install the replacement (or repaired) unit.

  5. Reassemble

Reconnect the wiring harnesses, reinstall the armrest paneling, and reconnect the battery.

  6. Clear Fault Codes

Turn the ignition on. The fault code must be cleared manually. Press the return/acknowledge button on the terminal repeatedly until no more fault codes are indicated. Note: Each stored fault code must be cleared individually, or it will reappear on the next startup.

  7. EOL Programming

Depending on the tractor generation, a new A004 module may require End-of-Line (EOL) programming via FENDIAS diagnostic software to map the auxiliary control valves and buttons to your specific tractor's options.
