Fendt 4.1.08 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU) / ECU A013: Signal failure from component B016 (Actual Speed Range Position Sensor)

The system cannot determine the physical position of the transmission range selector. Consequently, switching operating ranges becomes unavailable, the transmission remains engaged in the current range, and the Tractor Management System (TMS) is automatically switched off.

   Check the 8.5V power supply circuit from the Transmission ECU (specifically A013 Fuse 13 or Fuse 8).

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the B016 sensor and the Transmission ECU for open circuits, shorts to ground, wire chafing, moisture, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

   Test sensor voltage at the connector to verify the 8.5V reference and ground are present with the key ON.

   Ensure there is no mechanical binding in the transmission range shift mechanism holding the sensor out of range.

   Prepare the tractor for service

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the handbrake/ParkLock, lower any implements, and turn off the engine.

   Locate the sensor

   Locate the B016 range position sensor on the exterior of the Vario transmission housing.

   Disconnect the sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.

   Remove the sensor

   Remove the retaining bolts securing the sensor to the transmission housing and carefully extract the sensor.

   Install the new sensor

   Install the new OEM range position sensor and tighten the retaining bolts to the manufacturer's torque specification.

   Reconnect the harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks into place and is weather-tight.

   Clear the fault code

   Connect a diagnostic tool (such as FENDIAS) to clear the 4.1.08 fault code from the Transmission ECU memory.

   Perform a transmission range calibration

   Because a new position sensor has been installed, the Transmission ECU must relearn the physical end-stops (neutral, range 1, range 2) of the new sensor to function correctly.
