Fendt 4.1.25 – Transmission Control Unit (TCU): Signal fault or Signal failure with Joystick's Rapid reversing function
Issue description
The system has detected an invalid, missing, or out-of-range signal from the forward/reverse rocker switch on the joystick. When this code is triggered, the Tractor Management System (TMS) is typically switched off, and the tractor defaults to an emergency/auxiliary operation mode where rapid reversing via the joystick is disabled.

Check the cause
Inspect the rapid reverse (F/R) rocker switch on the joystick for physical damage, sticking, or a lack of tactile feedback.
Use Fendias Variowin diagnostic software to monitor the joystick inputs and check if the rapid reverse signal changes state when pressed.
Check the CAN communication lines and wiring harness between the joystick (A034/A003) and the transmission control unit for continuity, shorts, or corrosion.
Verify the 8.5V reference supply to the joystick and check relevant fuses (e.g., fuse block A013) to ensure proper power.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery before beginning electrical work.
Button Replacement
If the diagnostic tests point to a mechanical failure of the button itself, aftermarket replacement buttons can be installed. Note: Factory buttons are often melted/fused into the lower part of the joystick housing. You may need to carefully remove the old button using a small chisel or rotary tool before snapping/gluing the new one into place.
Joystick Removal
If the internal CAN circuit board or membrane is faulty, the joystick must be removed. Remove the mounting screws on the multifunction armrest plate, disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector, and pull the joystick assembly out.
Repair or Replace
You can either send the defective joystick to a specialized agricultural electronics repair center for a board-level repair, or replace the entire joystick assembly with a new OEM unit.
Installation
Connect the new or repaired joystick and secure it to the armrest plate.
Calibration
Reconnect the battery. Clear the fault codes using the Fendt diagnostic tool. In some cases, a new EOL (End of Line) programming or joystick calibration may be required to sync the new joystick with the transmission control unit.
