4.1.25

Fendt 4.1.25 – Transmission Control: Joystick "Quick Reverse" signal failure

Issue description

A CAN bus communication issue or signal failure between the joystick (A034/A003) and the tractor's enhanced control ECU (A002). The Tractor Management System (TMS) is switched off, and the tractor will only allow continuation in emergency mode.

Applies to these machines

  • 411 Vario COM III
  • 412 Vario COM III
  • 413 Vario COM III
  • 414 Vario COM III
  • 415 Vario COM III
  • 712 Vario COM III
  • 714 Vario COM III
  • 716 Vario COM III
  • 718 Vario COM III
  • 818 Vario COM III
  • 820 Vario COM III
  • 900 Vario Series (916, 920, 924, 926, 930)
  • 800 Vario COM III
  • 700 Vario COM III (714, 716, 724)
  • 400 Vario COM III
  • 300 Vario COM III

Check the cause

  1. Check fuses F040, F041, and F047 on circuit board A013 to verify the power supply for the CAN bus (F047 is dedicated to the Joystick CAN)

  2. Inspect harness connectors at the A034 Joystick and the A002 ECU for corroded electrical pins

  3. Test the continuity of the CAN bus lines between the A002 ECU and the A034 Joystick using the Transmission Control electrical diagram

  4. Verify if other joystick buttons are functioning to determine if the entire joystick has lost communication or just the Quick Reverse switch

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to safely work on the electrical system.

  2. Fuse Replacement

If fuse F047, F040, or F041 on circuit board A013 is blown, replace it and test the tractor. If the fuse blows again, there is a short in the wiring harness.

  3. Harness Repair

Clean any corroded pins on the CAN bus connectors using electrical contact cleaner. If the wiring harness is pinched or damaged between the armrest and the main ECU, repair or replace the damaged wire section.

  4. Component Replacement

If the wiring and power supply are intact, the fault lies internally within the A034 Joystick or the A002 ECU. Replace the joystick first as it is the most common point of failure.

  5. Clear Fault Codes

After repair, clear the fault memory on the instrument panel (A007) or by using FENDIAS or SERDIA diagnostic software.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • A034 / A003 Joystick (Drive Switch)

Main replacement component if the F/R switch has failed internally.

  • A002 ECU (Enhanced Control)

Required only if the module itself is failing to process CAN signals.

  • Fuses (F040, F041, F047)

Standard automotive fuses for circuit board A013.
