4.1.2E

Fendt 4.1.2E – Transmission Control system: A003, A034 - 'v+ transmission control' (joystick forwards) — Signal fault

Issue description

The system is not receiving a valid signal when the operator pushes the multifunction joystick forward to accelerate or adjust the transmission ratio. The fault lies in the communication between the joystick (component A034), the side console/keypad (component A003), and the tractor's control modules.

Check the cause

  1. Check the power supply fuses for the CAN bus on circuit board A013 (specifically fuses F040, F041, and F047) and the A004 fuse board.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (X031, X032_P, and X033) between the joystick (A034), the side console (A003), and the Enhanced Control Module (A002) for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Perform a voltage test using a multimeter and an adaptor box between the joystick (A003/A034) and earth. The voltage supply should be between 8.0 V and 8.5 V.

  4. Conduct a signal test via the FENDIAS diagnostic tool or the Variotronic terminal (Diagnostics Menu 1) to monitor the 'IDEAL' target value for the transmission ratio, verifying if the signal drops out when the joystick is pushed forward.

Repair steps

  1. Isolate the Fault

If the voltage supply is correct (8-8.5V) and the wiring harness shows no continuity issues or short circuits, the fault is internal to the joystick's microswitches or membrane.

  2. Remove the Joystick

Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery. Carefully remove the armrest covers to access the mounting hardware and wiring harness for the A034 joystick and A003 side console.

  3. Repair or Replace

Install a new OEM joystick assembly, or utilize a specialized agricultural mechatronics shop to rebuild the internal foil buttons, crossgate levers, and microswitches.

  4. Reassembly

Reconnect the joystick wiring harness and secure the unit back into the armrest.

  5. EOL Programming / Calibration

Use the FENDIAS software or the Variotronic terminal to run the 'teach-in' calibration program so the Enhanced Control Module (A002) recognizes the new joystick's center, forward, and reverse parameters.
