4.1.32

Fendt 4.1.32 – Transmission / Overall System: A034 - Driving switch, CAN bus

Issue description

This code indicates a signal fault or communication failure originating from the 'Activation button' on the main driving switch (the Vario joystick). When this fault is triggered, the tractor will typically restrict certain functions (like auxiliary valve operation) but will allow continuation in emergency mode.

Check the cause

  1. Physically inspect the activation button on the joystick for sticking, debris, or mechanical damage.

  2. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness and connectors between the A034 joystick and the A002 Enhanced Control ECU for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to check the A034 drive switch for internal memory faults, such as EEPROM initialization errors, routing data faults, or byte address checksum errors.

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Retest

Clear the fault code using the tractor's terminal or FENDIAS and cycle the ignition to see if the fault returns immediately (hard fault) or intermittently.

  2. Repair Wiring

If harness damage is found between the A002 ECU and A034 joystick, repair the wiring or replace the damaged connector pins.

  3. Software Reprogramming (EOL)

If FENDIAS indicates a checksum or EEPROM error within the joystick, you must run a new EOL (End of Line) programming procedure for the A034 joystick. This often resolves software-induced signal faults without needing hardware replacement.

  4. Replace the Joystick

If the wiring is intact, EOL programming fails or cannot be completed, and the physical activation button is internally shorted/failed, the A034 joystick assembly must be replaced.

  5. Recalibrate

After installing a new joystick, use FENDIAS to perform the EOL programming and teach-in procedures to pair the new joystick with the A002 ECU.
