Check the cause

  1. Inspect the membrane keypad on the multifunction armrest/console for physical damage, tears, or a collapsed/sticking 'Rear PTO automatic' button.

  2. Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to monitor the live input state of the membrane keypad to see if the key registers as permanently pressed or fails to register.

  3. Access the back of the membrane keypad and check the wiring harness and connector linking it to the e-box for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires.

Repair steps

  1. Power down and disconnect battery

Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Remove retaining trim/bezel

Carefully pry or unscrew the retaining trim/bezel surrounding the membrane keypad on the multifunction armrest or side console.

  3. Disconnect keypad module

Lift the keypad module and disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector from the rear.

  4. Apply repair kit (if applicable)

If using a membrane keypad repair kit, carefully peel off the defective membrane sticker layer, clean the contact surface with electrical contact cleaner, and apply the new membrane keypad overlay.

  5. Replace keypad module (if applicable)

If replacing the entire keypad module, swap the old unit for the new one.

  6. Reconnect electrical harness

Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector seats firmly and locks.

  7. Reinstall keypad

Reinstall the keypad into the console and secure the trim.

  8. Reconnect battery and clear codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and clear the fault codes using the diagnostic tool.

  9. Test function

Test the Rear PTO automatic button to verify the function is restored and the fault code does not return.
