Fendt 4.1.37 – Tractor Electronic Control Unit (ECU) / EST / A004 / A002: Front PTO automatic' key on membrane keypad — Signal fault

The control system is detecting an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from this specific button on the tractor's control console. The Front PTO automatic function is disabled and unavailable until the fault is resolved.

   Examine the membrane keypad on the right-hand control console for physical damage, punctures, heavy wear, or signs of moisture ingress

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running between the membrane keypad and the EST/ECU modules for corrosion, loose pins, or chafed wires

   Using a multimeter, test the continuity of the circuit for the 'Front PTO automatic' button when pressed to determine if the switch itself has failed internally

   Attempt to clear the fault code via the tractor's terminal to determine if it is a hard fault or an intermittent glitch

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts or further module damage during the repair.

   Access the Console

   Carefully remove the trim panels surrounding the right-hand control console/membrane keypad.

   Disconnect the Keypad

   Unplug the multi-pin wiring harness connectors from the rear of the membrane keypad assembly.

   Remove the Keypad

   Remove the retaining screws or clips holding the membrane keypad in place and extract the faulty unit from the console.

   Install the Replacement

   Seat the new or remanufactured membrane keypad into the console and secure it with the retaining hardware.

   Reconnect Wiring

   Plug the wiring harness back into the keypad, ensuring the connectors click securely into place.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reinstall the console trim panels, reconnect the battery, and turn on the ignition.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the stored 4.1.37 fault code from the tractor's memory and test the Front PTO automatic button to verify the LED illuminates and the function engages properly.
