4.1.53

Fendt 4.1.53 – Transmission Control Module (TCM) / ECU basic control unit (A050): Transmission oil temperature more than 110°C

Issue description

Transmission oil temperature is more than 110°C. The system warns to stop immediately, as there is a serious risk of transmission damage if the journey is continued.

Check the cause

  1. Check live data using the Variotronic Ti terminal (A008) for actual temperature readings (under 50°C shows as <50°C, over 120°C shows as >120°C)

  2. Check for related fault codes like 4.1.56 (S017) for a clogged transmission oil filter or 4.1.58 for transmission slip, which cause genuine overheating

  3. Inspect wiring and connector at separation point X158 on the B009 sensor for signal faults, shorts, or damage

Repair steps

  1. Halt Operation

Stop the tractor immediately to prevent serious transmission damage and allow the transmission to cool down.

  2. Fluid & Filter Check

Check the transmission oil level and the condition of the transmission oil filter. Replace the filter and fluid if contaminated or degraded.

  3. Access the Sensor

The B009 sensor is located on the right side of the transmission, on the valve block (infeed and discharge).

  4. Remove Obstructions

To reach the sensor, safely lift the tractor, remove the right rear wheel, and remove the protective metal panel.

  5. Test/Replace Sensor

Disconnect the sensor at separation point X158. If the wiring is intact but the sensor is providing implausible readings (or if the transmission is cool but the sensor reads >110°C), remove and replace the B009 Discharge temperature sensor.

  6. Reassembly

Reinstall the metal panel and the right rear wheel.

  7. Clear & Test

Clear the fault codes via the terminal and test drive the tractor. Monitor the transmission temperature in the Variotronic terminal to ensure it stays within normal operating limits.
