Fendt 4.1.62 – Transmission Control Unit (A050 - ECU, basic control unit): Actuation fault or Supply failure associated with the Y003 solenoid valve

   Verify the Symptoms: Confirm if the travel range selector cannot shift to neutral or does not come out of gear when the travel range valve is energized.

   Electrical Testing: Check the wiring harness and connectors between the A050 Transmission ECU and the Y003 solenoid valve for continuity, shorts to ground, or supply failures.

   Sensor Verification: Check the B016 travel range detection sensor. Fendt manuals note that a faulty B016 sensor can mimic travel range shifting issues and cause the transmission to fail to shift to neutral.

   Valve Inspection: Verify that the correct valve is installed and check if the valve is mechanically stuck in the closed/open position due to hydraulic contamination.

   Access the Valve

   Safely park the tractor. On many Vario models (such as the 900 series), the Y003 solenoid valve is located behind the right rear wheel on the transmission valve unit. You may need to remove the right rear wheel and the protective metal panel to gain access.

   Disconnect Electrics

   Disconnect the electrical cable coupler from the Y003 solenoid valve and inspect the pins for corrosion or damage.

   Remove the Valve

   Remove the fastening screws securing the solenoid valve to the transmission housing and extract the valve.

   Install the New Valve

   Fit new O-rings to the replacement valve unit and lubricate them with a little grease.

   Torque Specs

   Insert the new valve unit and tighten the fastening screws to 25 Nm, working from the inside to the outside.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the hydraulic lines (if applicable) and the electrical cable coupler. Reinstall the metal panel and the right rear wheel.

   Calibration & Clearing

   Clear the fault codes using the tractor's terminal or FENDIAS diagnostic software. You may need to perform a calibration of the travel range selector (calibration code 4003) to ensure the transmission recognizes the neutral position and shifts smoothly.
