4.1.63

Fendt 4.1.63 – Transmission Control Module (Basic Control Unit ECU / A050): Y005 - "Speed governor" solenoid valve

Issue description

Actuation fault / Supply failure. This indicates an electrical issue, such as an open circuit, short circuit, or lack of power supply to the solenoid. The system defaults to an emergency operation mode, restricting the tractor to a maximum speed of 30 km/h.

Check the cause

  1. Check the wiring harness between the Transmission Control ECU and the Y005 solenoid valve for breaks, chafing, or loose pins

  2. Measure the resistance of the Y005 solenoid coil to check for an internal short or open circuit

  3. Verify if the ECU is sending the required 800mA (± 50 mA) to the solenoid when the speed restriction is supposed to be lifted

  4. On models with EOL 7.60 onward, check if the transmission calibration needs to be repeated due to an actuator unit fault

Repair steps

  1. Access the Valve Block

Locate the transmission valve block where the Y005 Speed governor solenoid is mounted (often near the high-pressure filter/feed block).

  2. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, repair the harness and retest.

  3. Replace the Solenoid

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid coil fails electrical testing (or is mechanically stuck), depressurize the system safely and remove the Y005 solenoid valve.

  4. Install New Valve

Install the replacement solenoid valve and torque to OEM specifications.

  5. Clear Codes & Calibrate

Clear the 4.1.63 fault code via the terminal. If required by the specific model's repair manual, run the transmission end-of-line (EOL) calibration procedure.

  6. Test Drive

Operate the tractor to confirm it can successfully exceed the 30 km/h emergency limit without the fault returning.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Speed governor solenoid valve (Y005)

Always ensure the replacement solenoid matches the voltage and amperage requirements (800mA ± 50 mA operating current) of the Vario transmission generation being serviced.
