4.1.91

Fendt 4.1.91 – A001 Transmission Control Module: Cruise Control 2 — Data communication

Issue description

Data communication fault. The system has detected a CAN-bus communication failure specifically related to the "Cruise Control 2" key/button signal. The Cruise Control 2 key is not available, meaning the cruise control function cannot be activated or adjusted using that button.

Applies to these machines

  • 409 Vario
  • 410 Vario
  • 411 Vario
  • 412 Vario
  • 711 Vario
  • 712 Vario
  • 714 Vario
  • 715 Vario
  • 716 Vario
  • 717 Vario
  • 718 Vario
  • 916 Vario
  • 920 Vario
  • 924 Vario
  • 926 Vario
  • 930 Vario
  • Fendt Farmer 400 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt Favorit 700 Vario / 700 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt 800 Vario (COM III)
  • Fendt Favorit 900 Vario / 900 Vario (COM III) (Chassis number 23/3001 and up)

Check the cause

  1. Check fuses F040 and F041 on fuse board A013 for the CAN-bus voltage supply

  2. Physically examine the Cruise Control 2 button on the A004 control console for sticking, damage, or unresponsiveness

  3. Inspect the CAN-bus wiring harness between the A004 Control Console and the A001 Transmission Control Module for chafed wires, loose connector pins, or corrosion

  4. Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to verify if the A004 module is communicating on the CAN-bus or if the fault is isolated to the button signal

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery before servicing electrical components to prevent short circuits.

  2. Fuse Replacement

If fuse F040 or F041 on board A013 is blown, replace it with a fuse of the exact same amperage. If it blows again immediately upon startup, trace the CAN-bus power circuit for a short to ground.

  3. Harness Repair

Disconnect the plugs at the A004 Control Console and the A001 Transmission Control Module. Use a multimeter to check for continuity and verify there is no short to ground or short to power on the CAN-High and CAN-Low lines. Repair any damaged wiring.

  4. Console Repair/Replacement

If the wiring is intact and the fuses are good, the fault is likely an internal failure of the A004 Control Console (either a failed microswitch for the Cruise Control 2 button or a failed CAN transceiver). Remove the panel on the right mudguard to access the A004 console. Depending on dealer capabilities, the console must either be sent out for electronics repair or replaced entirely.

  5. Reprogramming

If the A004 Control Console or A001 Transmission Control Module is replaced, the new module may require EOL (End of Line) programming and calibration using the FENDIAS software to sync with the tractor's twin e-box system.

  6. Test

Clear the stored fault codes and test drive the tractor to verify that Cruise Control 2 can be set and adjusted.
