Fendt 4.1.94 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: A034 - Joystick — CAN communication fault between A002 ECU, enhanced control and A034 joystick

This fault code indicates a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus communication failure between the tractor's enhanced control module (E-Box) and the main driving switch/joystick. Because the control unit cannot reliably read the joystick's inputs, the system restricts the joystick's functions to prevent unintended machine movements.

   Check fuse F047 on the A013 printed circuit board, which protects the joystick CAN circuit.

   Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic program, navigate to Diagnostics Menu 1, and check the A034 drive switch inputs for the 'IDEAL' target value.

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the A034 joystick and the A002 ECU for chafed wires, loose connector pins, or corrosion.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Fuse Replacement

   If fuse F047 on the A013 board is blown, replace it with a fuse of the exact same amperage. Reconnect the battery and test. If it blows again, there is a short in the joystick wiring.

   Harness Repair

   If physical damage is found in the wiring between the A002 ECU and the A034 joystick, repair the broken wires or replace the affected harness section according to the 'JOYSTICK, CAN - JOYSTICK' circuit diagram (Sheet 22/23).

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring and fuses are intact, the fault lies internally within either the A034 joystick or the A002 ECU. Replace the faulty component.

   EOL Programming

   If the A034 joystick or the A002 ECU is replaced, you must perform an EOL (End of Line) reprogramming using the FENDIAS dealer software to write the new data record and pair the components to the tractor's CAN network.
