Fendt 4.1.B2 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: A002 - ECU, enhanced control — Fault in EPROM programming (driving mode selector I / II) or (range control I / II).
Issue description
The EPROM (memory) inside the enhanced control unit has encountered a programming fault, data corruption, or checksum error specifically related to the parameters for the driving mode selector (travel range control I / II). The tractor's transmission range (I / II) cannot be changed while driving. The tractor may be locked into its current range or default to a restricted operating mode.

Check the cause
Verify power and ground voltage supply to the CAN-Bus and the A002 ECU, specifically inspecting the A013 fuse board (fuses F040 and F041)
Check for accompanying CAN-bus communication errors (e.g., 0.0.15, 1.1.A0) that might indicate a wiring harness issue or voltage drop causing data corruption rather than a hard EPROM failure
Determine ECU generation by checking the tractor's chassis number (older models require physical chip replacement, newer models ending in ../8001 and up are flash-programmable)
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic tool
Connect the FENDIAS (Fendt Diagnostic System) interface tool to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Turn ignition ON
Turn the ignition to the "ON" position.
Establish communication
Open the FENDIAS software and establish communication with the A002 - ECU, enhanced control.
Navigate to EOL menu
Navigate to the EOL (End Of Line) programming menu.
Reflash/reprogram ECU
Reflash/reprogram the A002 ECU with the correct tractor parameters, specifically targeting the transmission range control parameters.
Clear codes and test drive
Clear the fault codes and test drive the tractor to verify that range switching (I / II) functions normally while driving.
Replace module if programming fails
If the FENDIAS system cannot overwrite the EPROM (indicating a hardware failure of the memory chip), the A002 ECU must be replaced and subsequently EOL programmed to match the tractor.
Parts you might need
(1)A002 - ECU, enhanced control (Enhanced Control Unit / E-Box)
Varies strictly by tractor model and chassis serial number break. Must undergo EOL programming via FENDIAS upon installation, or the tractor will throw mismatch codes (e.g., 1.1.A0) and limit engine torque.
