4.1.E1

Fendt 4.1.E1 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: A002 - ECU, enhanced control — Pressure regulator control parameters in tractive power control (ML - transmission adjustment) not plausible or read incorrectly.

Issue description

This is a software or memory error. The control unit has detected that the stored parameters governing the pressure regulator for the tractor's tractive power control (transmission adjustment) are corrupted, out of expected bounds (not plausible), or failed to read correctly from the EEPROM.

Applies to these machines

  • Fendt 916, 920, 924, 926, and 930 Vario

Check the cause

  1. Verify if the tractor has lost traction control functions or if the Tractor Management System (TMS) is restricted, as the system defaults to emergency operation.

  2. Check for underlying voltage supply issues (e.g., 8.5V supply faults) or CAN bus communication errors that could have interrupted the ECU's ability to read its own parameters.

  3. Connect the Fendt FenDias diagnostic system to verify the exact parameter read error and check if the A002 ECU is communicating properly on the CAN bus.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic software

Connect a laptop running Fendt FenDias diagnostic software (must be equipped with developer/EOL programming privileges via a USB dongle) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Navigate to programming menu

Navigate to the A002 Enhanced Control ECU programming menu.

  3. Execute EOL reprogramming

Execute an EOL reprogramming procedure to re-flash or reload the correct data record/parameters for the tractive power control.

  4. Clear codes and cycle ignition

Once the flash is complete, clear the fault codes and cycle the tractor's ignition.

  5. Test tractor

Test the tractor's transmission and tractive power control to ensure the code does not return.

  6. Replace ECU if necessary

If the EOL programming repeatedly fails or the code immediately returns after a successful flash, the EEPROM inside the A002 ECU is likely physically damaged, and the ECU must be replaced.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • A002 Enhanced Control ECU (Electronic Control Unit)

Varies strictly by specific tractor model, generation, and chassis serial number. Pull the exact part number off the physical A002 module or provide the chassis number to a Fendt dealer.
