4.1.E6

Fendt 4.1.E6 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: Checksum error for load limit control parameters

Issue description

A checksum error means that the software parameters stored in the ECU for the load limit control function are corrupted, invalid, or missing. The load limit control determines how far the engine speed is allowed to drop under load before the transmission automatically readjusts.

Applies to these machines

  • 411 Vario COM III
  • 412 Vario COM III
  • 413 Vario COM III
  • 414 Vario COM III
  • 415 Vario COM III
  • 712 Vario COM III
  • 714 Vario COM III
  • 716 Vario COM III
  • 718 Vario COM III
  • 818 Vario COM III
  • 820 Vario COM III
  • 200 Vario (V / F / P)
  • 300 Vario (COM III)
  • 400 Vario (COM III)
  • 700 Vario (COM III)
  • 800 Vario (COM III)
  • 900 Vario (COM III)

Check the cause

  1. Check the tractor's multifunction display for other active fault codes related to the A002 ECU or CAN bus communication, which could indicate a broader module failure or wiring issue.

  2. Verify if the tractor has defaulted to emergency mode or if TMS (Tractor Management System) functions are restricted.

  3. Check software version to ensure the correct parameters are loaded for the specific tractor model, as mismatched parameters will trigger checksum errors.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic software

Connect the Fendt Fendias diagnostic software using the AGCO 2x4 CANUSB Diagnostic Tool to the tractor's G and K bus ports.

  2. Run EOL programming software

Run the EOL programming software (e.g., EOL 7.76 or later).

  3. Build connection

Select 'Programming Development' and input the tractor's chassis number to build the connection.

  4. Reprogram parameters

Reload/reprogram the load limit control parameters for the A002 ECU.

  5. Wait for programming

Wait for the programming to finish (this can take 15-20 minutes).

  6. Perform hard reset

Once the devices have been switched into bootloader mode for programming, perform a hard reset of the devices: Turn the Ignition OFF, wait 15 seconds, and turn the Ignition ON.

  7. Clear fault codes

Clear the stored fault codes from the memory.

  8. Test drive

Test drive the tractor under load to verify the load limit control functions correctly.

  9. Replace ECU

If EOL programming fails, the stored values remain illogical, or the checksum error immediately returns, the A002 ECU (E-box) itself has suffered a hardware memory failure and must be replaced.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • A002 ECU (Enhanced control module / Transmission E-box)

Specific part numbers vary heavily depending on the exact chassis number and series. If the A002 ECU is replaced, the new module will be blank or contain standard parameters. It must undergo EOL programming after installation to flash the correct parameters for the specific tractor model.
