Fendt 4.1.E9 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: Values for shift from range II to I outside tolerances

The transmission control unit has detected that the parameters for shifting from speed range II to speed range I are outside of the acceptable tolerance window. This is typically caused by the B016 travel speed range detection sensor drifting out of calibration, failing, or losing its 8.5V reference voltage, or by incorrect EOL programming. The tractor will enter an auxiliary/emergency operation mode where shifting between ranges is only possible when completely stationary.

   Verify the 8.5V power supply to the B016 travel range detection sensor and check the corresponding fuse on the A013 fuse board (often Fuse 8 or Fuse 13, depending on the specific model year).

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the B016 sensor for corrosion, moisture, or breaks.

   Inspect the Y002 (travel range I) and Y003 (travel range II) solenoid valves to ensure they are receiving signals and are not mechanically jammed.

   Attempt to recalibrate the range shift mechanism using Calibration Code 4003 on the tractor's terminal.

   Bring tractor to a standstill

   Bring the tractor to a complete standstill, as range shifting is locked out while moving under this fault condition.

   Locate sensor

   Access the transmission control block and locate the B016 travel range detection sensor.

   Test harness and repair

   Disconnect the sensor and test the harness for the 8.5V reference signal and ground. Repair the harness or replace the blown A013 fuse if the voltage is missing.

   Execute calibration

   If the wiring is intact, connect a diagnostic tool or use the onboard terminal to execute Calibration Code 4003.

   Evaluate sensor

   If the calibration fails, or if the sensor values are erratic/drifting during the procedure, the B016 sensor is internally faulty and must be replaced.

   Replace sensor

   Remove the old B016 sensor and install the new OEM replacement.

   Perform EOL programming

   After installation, you must perform EOL programming/recalibration using Calibration Code 4003 so the A002 ECU can learn the new sensor's zero-positions and tolerances.

   Clear codes and test

   Clear the fault codes and test drive the tractor, shifting from Range II to Range I to verify the repair.
