4.1.ED

Fendt 4.1.ED – Transmission Control Unit (EST / Transmission E-box): Clutch pedal rotary position sensor / angular resolver / potentiometer - No calibration or drifted values

Issue description

No calibration or drifted values, or clutch pedal potentiometer values out of tolerance or clutch not calibrated. When this fault is active, the tractor loses enhanced control functions (like cruise control and final speed control) but continuation in emergency mode (auxiliary operation) is possible.

Check the cause

  1. Check Sensor Supply Voltage: Test Pin 2 at the sensor connector for +8.5 VDC.

  2. Check the Fuse: If the 8.5V supply is missing, check Micro fuse 8 (A013), which protects this circuit.

  3. Check Ground and Signal: Verify that Pin 1 has a good Earth (ground) connection and test Pin 3 for the return signal to the Transmission ECU.

  4. Inspect Wiring: Check the wiring harness between the clutch pedal sensor and the Transmission ECU for continuity, chafing, or line discontinuities.

Repair steps

  1. Access the Sensor

Remove the hatch cover at the top of the steering column, then remove the instrument panel to gain access to the B017 clutch pedal rotary position sensor.

  2. Test/Replace

Connect a diagnostic adapter cable directly to component B017 to monitor the signal values. If the sensor has failed or its internal resistance is out of tolerance, remove the mounting hardware and replace the sensor.

  3. Calibration

Enter the Fendt diagnostic/calibration menu and run Calibration Code '4001' (Calibration - clutch pedal sensor) to calibrate the new or drifted sensor to the transmission control unit.

  4. Clear Codes

Clear the 4.1.ED fault code and test drive the tractor to ensure cruise control and final speed control functions have returned.
