Fendt 4.1.EE – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: A002 - Transmission characteristic — No calibration or drifted values

Issue description

Transmission characteristic values are out of tolerance, or the transmission has lost its calibration data (drifted or altered values). The tractor will typically restrict functions but allows for continuation in emergency mode (auxiliary operation).

Check the cause

  1. Check for other fault codes on the terminal; they must be confirmed and resolved first, as active faults will block the calibration process.

  2. Inspect transmission fluid by pulling the dipstick and checking the oil. If it smells burnt or acrid, the transmission has overheated and the oil and filter must be changed immediately.

  3. Verify operating conditions for calibration: ensure the tractor is completely stationary (below 0.01 km/h) and the transmission oil temperature is approximately 40°C.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Start the engine and warm the transmission oil to approx. 40°C.

  2. Secure the Tractor

    Ensure the tractor is completely stationary and apply the hand brake.

  3. Neutralize Transmission

    Manually set the transmission to neutral via the emergency operation controls if necessary.

  4. Clear Terminal

    Confirm/acknowledge any other fault messages on the display.

  5. Initiate Calibration

    Access the calibration menu and run Calibration Code 4007 (Transmission ratio characteristic).

  6. Follow Sequence

    Perform transmission calibrations (Codes 4001 through 4010) in sequence and as a block. Do not switch on the transmission emergency operation during the active calibration process.

  7. Post-Calibration

    If the calibration fails (e.g., throws a sub-fault like F01 or F02), check the hydrostatic power branch and test the signal for the direction of rotation on the B014 hydrostat sensor (drive accumulator shaft), as a faulty sensor will prevent successful calibration.
