5.1.8D

Fendt 5.1.8D – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: Checksum error old config data

Issue description

Configuration data stored in the module's memory has a checksum mismatch, meaning the software parameters are corrupted, outdated, or were interrupted during a previous programming event. This causes limited enhanced control operation or reduced comfort.

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the tractor is in a restricted operating mode and use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to confirm 5.1.8D is the primary active code.

  2. Check the power supply for the CAN bus on printed circuit board A013 (specifically fuses F040 and F041) to ensure no voltage drops or communication failures.

  3. Look for accompanying code 5.1.8F (Checksum error old automatic function sequential data), which requires the same repair procedure.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the Fendt FENDIAS diagnostic laptop/interface to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Establish communication

Establish communication with the A002 - ECU, enhanced control.

  3. Reprogram module

Execute a new EOL (End-of-Line) programming procedure for the A002 module. This will overwrite the corrupted configuration data with a fresh, correct data record and recalculate the checksum.

  4. Cycle ignition

Once the EOL programming is complete, cycle the tractor's ignition.

  5. Clear fault codes

Clear the stored fault codes from the tractor's memory.

  6. Perform functional test

Perform a functional test of the tractor's enhanced control features (such as the Tractor Management System / TMS) to ensure the error does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • A002 ECU (Enhanced Control Module / E-Box)

Only required if the module has suffered a catastrophic internal hardware failure (bricked) and refuses to accept new EOL programming. Exact part number must be pulled from the Fendt Epsilon parts catalog using the tractor's specific VIN/Chassis number.
