5.1.8F

Fendt 5.1.8F – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: Checksum error old automatic mode sequence data

Issue description

The control module has detected a memory or data corruption issue (checksum mismatch) within the saved parameters for the tractor's automatic functions (such as the Tractor Management System or sequential automated tasks). The tractor will experience 'Limited enhanced control operation' or 'Reduced comfort.' The tractor can still be driven, but automated sequence functions and enhanced comfort features will be restricted or disabled.

Check the cause

  1. Verify Power Supply: Check the voltage supply to the CAN-Bus and the A002 ECU. Inspect the A013 printed circuit fuse board (specifically check fuses F040 and F041).

  2. Inspect Wiring: Check the wiring harness and separation points (e.g., X031 separation point on the ECU) for the A002 module located on the right mudguard. Ensure there is no corrosion or loose pins causing data transfer interruptions.

  3. Clear and Retest: Connect the FENDIAS diagnostic tool and attempt to clear the fault code to see if it is a hard fault or a transient memory glitch.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Connect the FENDIAS (or SERDIA for engine-related cross-checks) diagnostic laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Perform EOL Programming

Run new EOL (End-Of-Line) programming. This will rewrite the corrupted automatic mode sequence data and correct the checksum error.

  3. EPROM / Flash Check

On newer Vario models, EOL programming should resolve the issue directly. On older models, if the EOL programming fails to take, the EPROM chip or the entire A002 ECU must be replaced.

  4. Test Operation

After successful EOL programming, cycle the ignition, clear any residual codes, and test the tractor's automatic functions (TMS, joystick automatic buttons) to verify that full comfort operation has been restored.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • A002 - ECU, enhanced control (EST Comfort Control Module)

Order replacement A002 ECU directly through an AGCO/Fendt dealer using the tractor's exact chassis number. Note whether your specific chassis requires the '1-Box' or '2-Box' electronics configuration.
