Check the cause
Inspect the "Front automatic ON / OFF" button on the joystick for physical damage, sticking, or lack of tactile feedback.
Verify the CAN bus connection between the joystick (A034) and the Enhanced Control Unit (A002). Look for damaged wiring harnesses or loose pins at the joystick connector.
Connect the tractor to FENDIAS (Fendt's diagnostic software) and use the "Variowin Joystick diagnose" tool to monitor the live signal of the button press to confirm if the signal is completely dead or intermittent.
Repair steps
Remove the Joystick
Disconnect the battery. Carefully remove the joystick/drive lever assembly from the tractor's multi-function armrest. Disconnect the CAN bus and electrical harness connectors.
Evaluate for Repair vs. Replacement
If the fault is purely mechanical (a broken plastic button), aftermarket repair kits are available to replace individual buttons without replacing the whole unit. If the internal microswitch or circuit board is damaged, specialized agricultural electronics repair shops (such as Ilgenfritz Mechatronics) offer rebuild services for Fendt Vario joysticks, which is often much cheaper than buying a new OEM unit.
Install the Unit
Install the repaired or new replacement joystick back into the armrest and reconnect the wiring harness.
Clear Codes
Turn on the tractor and use the dash terminal or FENDIAS to clear the stored 5.1.93 fault code. Test the front automatic function to ensure the signal is restored.
