Fendt 6.1.06 – A002 Transmission Control Module: A004 - Rear PTO speed selector key 1 — Key / A004 signal fault

Signal failure or CAN bus communication error regarding the first rear PTO speed selection button. The system cannot detect the state of the key, meaning the operator's input to select or modify the rear PTO speed is not being registered.

   Check fuses F040 and F041 on fuse board A013 for the CAN-Bus voltage supply

   Perform an emergency override test by pressing and holding the emergency PTO key in the cab for 5 seconds to verify mechanical/hydraulic function

   Inspect the Rear PTO speed selector key 1 on the A004 console for physical damage, sticking, or liquid ingress

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the A004 Control Console and the A002 Transmission Control Module for continuity, pin corrosion, or chafing

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Test fuses F040 and F041

   Locate fuse board A013. Test fuses F040 and F041 with a multimeter. Replace if blown and retest the system.

   Remove the trim/cover of the A004 Control Console

   If the fuses are intact, carefully remove the trim/cover of the A004 Control Console (armrest) to access the internal wiring and switch contacts.

   Clean connector pins and check wiring

   Disconnect the wiring harness connecting the console to the main cab harness. Clean the connector pins with electrical contact cleaner and check for pushed-back pins.

   Test PTO speed selector key 1

   Test the specific PTO speed selector key 1 for electrical continuity when pressed.

   Replace the PTO speed selector switch or A004 console

   If the switch fails the continuity test, replace the individual PTO speed selector switch. Note: If the switch cannot be serviced separately, the entire A004 Control Console circuit board must be replaced.

   Reassemble the control console

   Reassemble the control console and reconnect the battery.

   Clear fault codes and perform EOL test

   Connect a diagnostic tool (FENDIAS) to clear the fault codes and perform an EOL (End of Line) test if a new console module was installed.

   Test the PTO speed selection

   Start the tractor and test the PTO speed selection to verify the repair.
