Fendt 6.1.16 – A004 Control Console: 540 rpm speed selector key — Key / A004 signal fault

Mechanical or electrical fault in the 540 rpm PTO speed selector key, or a loss of signal between the key and the control console. The system registers that the key may be faulty (e.g., stuck pressed for more than 30 seconds) or the circuit is interrupted. Consequence: The PTO speed cannot be modified or selected, and the 540 rpm range selection key will not function.

   Inspect the 540 rpm speed selector key on the A004 control console. Check if the button is physically stuck, binding, or has been pressed continuously for more than 30 seconds.

   Consult the Fendt "PTO's" circuit diagram for your specific model to trace the signal path.

   Test the wiring harness and connections between the 540 rpm selector key and the A004 control console for continuity, shorts, or corrosion.

   Verify the voltage supply for the CAN-Bus to the A004 control console. Check fuses F040 and F041 on printed circuit board/fuse board A013, as blown fuses here will cause A004 signal failures.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during console disassembly.

   Inspect Fuses

   Locate fuse board A013 and inspect fuses F040 and F041. Replace them if blown.

   Access the Console

   Carefully remove the trim and mounting screws to access the rear of the A004 Control Console.

   Test the Switch

   Disconnect the 540 rpm PTO switch. Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper electrical continuity when pressed and released.

   Replace the Switch

   If the switch fails the continuity test or is mechanically broken/sticking, replace the 540 rpm speed selector switch.

   Inspect the Harness

   If the switch is functioning correctly, inspect the wiring harness pins at the A004 console connector. Repair any damaged wires or loose pins.

   Console Repair/Replacement

   If the switch, wiring, and fuses are all in working order, the A004 Control Console has an internal fault and will need to be sent out for repair or replaced entirely.

   Reassembly and Clearing Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the tractor, and use the FENDIAS diagnostic system (or the tractor's onboard terminal) to clear the stored 6.1.16 fault code. Test the PTO engagement to confirm the 540 rpm speed can now be selected.
