Fendt 6.1.43 – COMFORT REAR PTO or ENHANCED CONTROL REAR PTO: Left external "Rear PTO ON / OFF" pushbutton pressed continuously

The system has detected that the S019 left external "Rear PTO ON / OFF" pushbutton has been pressed continuously for more than 30 seconds. This typically indicates a mechanical fault (jammed/stuck due to dirt or damage) or an electrical fault (internally shorted switch, or wiring harness shorted to ground/power). As a safety precaution, the tractor disables PTO speed selection, and the PTO cannot be engaged.

   Examine the left rear fender PTO button (S019) for physical damage, packed mud, or debris that might be holding the button down

   Disconnect the electrical connector and perform a switch continuity test. It should only show continuity when actively pressed; continuous continuity indicates an internal short

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the fender switch to the ECU for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed copper

   Check the switch connector for water ingress, corrosion, or damaged pins

   Park and secure tractor

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the ignition key.

   Locate switch

   Locate the S019 PTO switch on the left rear fender.

   Disconnect wiring

   Reach behind the fender panel to access the switch wiring and disconnect the electrical connector.

   Release switch

   Remove the retaining nut or depress the locking tabs securing the switch to the fender housing.

   Remove switch

   Push the old switch out of the mounting hole.

   Install new switch

   Insert the new replacement switch into the fender and secure it with the retaining mechanism.

   Reconnect wiring

   Reconnect the electrical connector. Ensure it clicks into place and the weather seal is seated securely to prevent future moisture ingress.

   Clear fault code

   Turn the ignition on. The fault code may clear automatically once the short is removed, or it may need to be cleared manually via the tractor's terminal or the FENDIAS diagnostic software.

   Test PTO

   Test the PTO engagement using both the in-cab controls and the newly installed external fender button to verify the repair.
