Fendt 6.1.4A – Control Console (A004) / Enhanced Control ECU (A002): PTO 'Active' Key Pressed Continuously

The PTO 'Active' key (North American version) has been registered as pressed continuously for more than 30 seconds, indicating a mechanical jam or electrical short. The tractor disables the rear PTO as a safety consequence.

   Inspect the yellow PTO 'Active' key on the control console for dirt, debris, or spilled liquids causing it to stick.

   Press the button to verify if it springs back freely.

   Use a multimeter to test the switch for internal continuity (a closed circuit without being pressed indicates internal failure).

   Trace the wiring from the switch to the Control Console (A004) to check for a short to ground or power.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes while working on the control console.

   Clean or Free the Switch

   If the button is merely jammed by debris, carefully clean around the edges of the switch with contact cleaner or compressed air to free it.

   Access the Console

   If the switch is electrically shorted or mechanically broken, remove the retaining screws for the control console panel to access the rear wiring.

   Disconnect the Switch

   Locate the faulty PTO 'Active' key switch. Disconnect its electrical plug (often an AMP Superseal 3-pin connector).

   Replace the Switch

   Pop the faulty switch out of the console housing and snap the new OEM replacement switch into place.

6. 6

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the plug is seated securely to maintain its dust/splash-proof seal. Reinstall the control console panel.

7. 7

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the tractor's terminal to clear the stored fault code. Test the PTO engagement to confirm the repair.
