Fendt 6.1.55 – A004 Control Console: A004 - NEUTRAL speed selector key — Key pressed for more than 30 seconds.

The system has detected that the NEUTRAL speed selection key for the rear PTO has been continuously depressed for over 30 seconds. This indicates either a mechanical fault (the button is physically stuck) or an electrical fault (an internal short circuit in the switch or wiring). Symptom/Effect: All PTO speeds can still be selected and engaged, but Neutral cannot be selected.

   Visual & Mechanical Inspection: Inspect the NEUTRAL speed selection key on the A004 control console. Check for dirt, debris, or sticky residue that might be physically jamming the button in the depressed position.

   Electrical Testing: If the button moves freely, check for an internal short circuit in the switch.

   Wiring/Circuit Check: Consult the Fendt 'PTOs' circuit diagram (specifically for the single e-box version) to trace the wiring from the A004 console to ensure there is no short to ground in the harness causing the module to read a continuous button press.

   Clean the Console

   Power down the tractor. Use electrical contact cleaner and compressed air to clean around the edges of the NEUTRAL PTO speed selector key. Actuate the button several times to dislodge any trapped debris.

   Clear and Retest

   Turn the tractor back on and clear the fault codes from the terminal. Test the PTO neutral button to see if the code returns.

   Test the Switch/Console

   If the code immediately returns and the button is not physically stuck, the internal switch contacts have failed closed (shorted).

   Replace the Component

   Depending on the specific console revision on your machine, you will either need to replace the individual PTO speed selector switch or the entire A004 Control Console keypad assembly.

   Verify Operation

   After replacement, start the tractor, clear any stored codes, and verify that the PTO can successfully be shifted into Neutral.
