Fendt 6.1.58 – A004 Control Panel / Terminal ECU: A004 - 1000 rpm speed selector key — Key pressed for more than 30 seconds
Issue description
This code indicates a plausibility error or a mechanical/electrical fault in the 1000 rpm PTO speed selection button. The system detects that the button has been continuously depressed for over 30 seconds, which usually means the switch is physically stuck, the internal contacts have fused/shorted, or there is a short in the wiring.

Check the cause
Inspect the 1000 rpm PTO speed selector switch on the side console for physical jamming, stickiness from debris, or failure to spring back to its neutral position.
Remove the switch and test it with a multimeter for electrical continuity to check if the internal contacts are stuck closed.
Inspect the wiring harness between the A004 control panel and the PTO switch for chafed wires that might be shorting to ground or voltage.
Verify if the 540 and 750 rpm speeds can still be engaged by holding the 'Engage PTO' button for more than 5 seconds (emergency mode test). If this works, the issue is isolated to the 1000 rpm switch circuit.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts or accidental PTO engagement during the repair.
Access the Switch
Carefully pry up or unscrew the side control panel/console trim where the PTO speed selector switches are mounted.
Remove the Faulty Switch
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the back of the 1000 rpm PTO switch. Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it out through the front of the panel.
Clean Connections
Inspect the wiring harness connector for melted plastic, corrosion, or pushed-out pins. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.
Install the New Switch
Push the new OEM replacement switch into the panel until the retaining tabs click into place.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the wiring harness directly into the back of the new switch. Ensure it is seated securely.
Reassemble and Test
Reinstall the console trim and reconnect the battery. Turn on the ignition and test all PTO speed selections (540, 750, 1000) to ensure the fault code clears and the PTO engages normally without needing the 5-second emergency override.
