Fendt 6.1.E1 – A002 - ECU, enhanced control: Checksum error PTO parametrisation
Issue description
An internal memory error where the EEPROM checksum for the Power Take-Off (PTO) parameters does not match the expected value. The control unit has detected that the configuration data governing the PTO operation is corrupted, missing, or invalid.

Check the cause
Verify symptoms: Check for restricted PTO operation or the PTO disengaging unexpectedly.
Check power and communication: Ensure the A002 ECU is receiving clean power and has a stable CAN bus connection. Check the voltage supply to the CAN-Bus on the A013 fuse board (specifically fuses F040 and F041).
Inspect wiring: Verify that there are no underlying wiring faults or short circuits causing communication drops between the A002 ECU and the A004 control console.
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic tool
Connect the tractor to the FENDIAS diagnostic tool (Fendt EST).
Navigate to programming menu
Navigate to the A002 ECU programming menu.
Run EOL programming
Run new EOL programming (End-Of-Line programming) to reload the correct PTO parameters and data records into the module.
Clear codes and test
Clear the fault codes and test the front and rear PTO engagement to ensure the checksum error does not return.
Repair or replace ECU
If the EOL programming fails to write to the ECU or the code immediately returns, the EEPROM chip inside the A002 E-Box has likely suffered a hardware failure. The E-Box will need to be removed and either sent to an agricultural electronics specialist for board-level repair or replaced entirely.
