Fendt 7.1.06 – Front PTO control module: Front PTO speed sensor 1 solenoid switch — Signal fault

The control unit is receiving an incorrect, missing, or implausible electrical signal from the microswitch/solenoid switch (S042) that monitors or engages the front power take-off (PTO) speed sensor.

   Check the electrical circuit: Refer to the "PTO's" circuit diagram to trace the wiring for the S042 switch and the B002 front PTO speed sensor.

   Inspect plug connections: Check all harness connectors between the magnetic valve/switch and the original wire harness for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins.

   Verify voltage: Ensure there is at least 9 Volts present at the magnetic valve.

   Check cabin controls: Verify the operation of the PTO switch and relay inside the tractor cabin.

   Observe system behavior: Note that as a safety and protection measure, if there is no pulse from the speed sensor, the front PTO is designed to switch off automatically after about 10 seconds.

   Locate components

   Locate the S042 microswitch/solenoid switch and the B002 front PTO speed sensor on the front PTO assembly.

   Inspect wiring

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the switch for any breaks, chafing, or short circuits to ground.

   Test switch

   Test the S042 switch for continuity and proper signal output when actuated.

   Replace faulty components

   If the wiring is intact and the voltage is correct but the signal remains faulty, replace the S042 solenoid switch/microswitch. If the switch is functioning but the PTO still shuts down after 10 seconds, the B002 speed sensor itself may be failing to send a pulse and should be replaced.

   Reconnect wiring

   Securely reconnect the wiring harness.

   Clear fault code

   Clear the fault code from the tractor's terminal. Note: Cancelling a fault code does not fix the underlying fault; it simply removes it from the display. Each stored fault code must be cleared individually by pressing the confirm button repeatedly until no more codes are shown.

   Test operation

   Test the front PTO operation to ensure it engages properly, registers speed, and does not shut off automatically.
