Fendt 7.1.41 – A004 Control Console: A004 - Front PTO "ON" key — Plausibility error, key has been pressed for more than 30 seconds.
Issue description
The system is receiving a continuous "pressed" signal from the Front PTO "ON" button for over 30 seconds. This is a plausibility error indicating a physically stuck button (jammed by dirt or debris) or an internal electrical short within the switch itself. As a safety consequence, the Front PTO will not function and automatically disengages.

Check the cause
Visual & Physical Inspection: Examine the Front PTO "ON" button on the A004 control console. Press it to see if it springs back freely or if it feels sticky, jammed, or collapsed.
Debris Check: Look for dirt, spilled liquids, or agricultural dust packed around the edges of the switch that could be holding the contact down.
Electrical Testing: If the button physically returns to its resting position but the code persists, remove the switch and test it with a multimeter for continuity. If it shows a closed circuit without being pressed, the switch is internally shorted.
Wiring Inspection: Check the wiring harness directly behind the switch leading to the A004 module for pinched wires or shorts to ground/voltage.
Repair steps
Clean the Switch
If the button is physically sticking, use compressed air and a plastic-safe electrical contact cleaner to flush out the edges of the button. Work the button up and down to free it. If this resolves the sticking, clear the fault code and test the PTO.
Access the Console
If the switch is broken or internally shorted, disconnect the tractor's battery. Remove the trim panels surrounding the A004 control console on the right-hand armrest/mudguard to access the rear of the switches.
Replace the Switch
Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the Front PTO switch. Unclip the switch from the console bezel and install the new replacement switch. (Note: On some newer or specific trim levels, if the button is part of a sealed membrane keypad on the A004 console, the keypad unit itself may need to be sent out for specialized electronic repair or replaced entirely).
Reassembly & Clearing Codes
Reconnect the harness, reassemble the console, and reconnect the battery. Access the tractor's terminal to clear the stored 7.1.41 fault code from the memory.
Test Operation
Start the tractor and engage the Front PTO to ensure it activates and deactivates normally without throwing a plausibility error.
