Fendt 7.1.41 – A004 - ECU, Control Panel: Front PTO "ON" key/button plausibility error.

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Physical Inspection: Check the Front PTO "ON" button on the control console. Ensure it is not physically jammed, stuck down, or wedged by debris/dirt.

  2. Clean the Console: If the button is sticking due to spilled liquids or dust, carefully clean around the edges of the button to see if it springs back into its neutral position.

  3. Electrical Testing: If the button moves freely but the code persists, the internal contacts may be fused closed. Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity. If there is continuity when the button is not being pressed, the switch has failed internally.

  4. Wiring Check: Inspect the wiring harness behind the A004 control panel for pinched wires or a short-to-ground that could be tricking the ECU into thinking the button is being pressed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully remove the trim or retaining screws securing the A004 control console/panel to access the rear of the switches.

  3. Disconnect

Locate the back of the yellow Front PTO switch. Disconnect the wiring harness plug (typically an AMP Superseal 3-pin connector).

  4. Remove the Faulty Switch

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it out through the front of the console panel.

  5. Install the New Part

Push the new switch into the console until it clicks securely into place. Reconnect the wiring harness.

  6. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reinstall the control console and reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's multiple display terminal to clear the stored 7.1.41 fault code.

  7. Test

Start the tractor and test the Front PTO engagement to ensure it turns on and off correctly without throwing the code again.
