Check the cause

  1. Inspect the automatic function button/switch on the A004 control console for sticking, mechanical failure, or debris

  2. Check for CAN (K-bus) communication faults between the A004 (Control Console) and A005 (E-box lifting gear control / Rear EPC)

  3. Check the voltage supply for the CAN Bus on the A013 fuse board, specifically inspecting fuses F040 and F041

  4. Test the electrical contacts directly behind the switch on the A004 panel for continuity

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery main switch to prevent electrical shorts while working on the console.

  2. Access the Console

Carefully remove the trim and access the A004 Control Console assembly.

  3. Test/Replace the Switch

Test the specific automatic function switch. If the contact is faulty, replace the individual switch (if serviceable on your specific model year) or replace the affected A004 control console keypad/module.

  4. Inspect Wiring

Clean the harness connectors linking the A004 console to the tractor's main harness and ensure the pins are not bent or corroded.

  5. Reassemble and Power Up

Reconnect the console and restore battery power.

  6. Clear Codes

Use the tractor's Vario Terminal or the FENDIAS diagnostic system to acknowledge and clear the stored 8.1.43 fault code.

  7. Operational Test

Test the electrohydraulic power lift control by attempting to switch the automatic function from the control console to the joystick to ensure the repair was successful.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • A004 Control Console / Operating Console (or specific Automatic Function Switch/Button)

Depending on the exact chassis number, Fendt typically requires replacing either the specific membrane switch panel or the entire A004 Control Console module.

  • Standard automotive fuses

For slots F040 and F041 on the A013 fuse board (if the diagnostic check reveals a voltage supply issue).
