8.3.14

Fendt 8.3.14 – Rear EPC (Electrohydraulic Power Control) control module / A014 - ECU, EPC OBE: Raise' rear power lift external pushbutton, cab, left rear — Signal line fault, key fault

Issue description

The external 'Raise' button (switch S029) located on the left rear fender or cab exterior is defective, stuck in the pressed position (key fault), or has a fault in its signal wiring. As a safety consequence, the electrohydraulic power lift control is immediately terminated and locked out by the system to prevent unintended movement of the rear hitch.

Check the cause

  1. Ensure the tractor is turned off, the transmission is in PARK, and the rear hitch area is clear of personnel before diagnosing.

  2. Inspect the S029 left rear 'Raise' pushbutton to see if it is physically jammed, packed with dirt, or stuck in the depressed position.

  3. Disconnect the switch and inspect the connector pins for corrosion or moisture ingress.

  4. Use a multimeter to check the signal line between the S029 switch and the A014 Rear EPC control module for an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power.

  5. Verify if the fault clears and functionality returns after a trouble-free cold start or by unlocking the system via the terminal.

Repair steps

  1. Prepare the tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower any attached implements (if possible), and turn off the ignition.

  2. Locate the switch

Locate the S029 'Raise' external pushbutton on the left rear fender/cab extension.

  3. Remove the switch housing

Carefully pry or unbolt the switch housing from the fender panel, depending on the specific model's trim.

  4. Disconnect the wiring

Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the back of the switch.

  5. Connect the new switch

If the wiring tested fine during diagnostics, the switch itself has failed internally. Connect the replacement genuine Fendt switch to the wiring harness.

  6. Install the new switch

Snap or bolt the new switch securely back into the fender housing.

  7. Clear the fault code

Turn on the tractor ignition. Use the FENDIAS diagnostic tool or the tractor's terminal to clear the stored 8.3.14 fault code.

  8. Test the operation

Test the new external raise button to ensure the rear lifting arms raise correctly and that the fault does not return.
