Check the cause

  1. Inspect the S028 button on the right rear fender/cab pillar for physical damage, sticking contacts, or water/dirt ingress.

  2. Inspect the plug connection at the switch (AMP Superseal 3 x 1.5 connector) for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins.

  3. Test the wiring harness between the S028 switch and the Rear EPC module for continuity, looking for an open circuit or short circuit to ground/power.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and ensure the rear power lift area is clear and safe.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the S028 "Lower" pushbutton on the right rear exterior of the cab/fender.

  3. Disconnect and Test

Unplug the AMP Superseal connector from the back of the switch. Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper momentary continuity when pressed.

  4. Replace or Repair

If the switch fails the continuity test or is physically stuck, remove the mounting nut (usually 30mm) and replace the switch. If the switch tests good, trace the wiring harness back to the ECU to locate and repair the break or chafe in the signal line.

  5. Clear Codes

Once the repair is made, turn the ignition ON. You may need to clear the stored fault code using the tractor's terminal or the FENDIAS diagnostic tool to unlock the EPC controls.
